About Me

I am the Executive Director of Bayview Charities, a faith-based non-profit organization of the Bayview Baptist Church. We serve the families of the southeastern San Diego communities by providing before and after school childcare for the students of Nubia Leadership Academy, free food distributions, we offer pre-screening for Cal-Fresh (food stamps) and support the African American Faith Based Network for a Healthy California. We also created a math, science and technology based program called the "Digital Academy" through a three year grant from AT&T Communications.

I am a native of the city of New Orleans and a product of Xavier University, an Historically Black College. Currently I am a proud member of Cohort VI of the Joint Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at the University of California, San Diego and California State University, San Marcos. My proposed research is in the area of Culturally Relevant Instruction as a strategy for closing the achievement gap for African American students.

I am passionate about all children having equal access to the best possible education. I welcome your comments and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Kathie Hardie
